Privacy Policy
The short version: MergeVille has no accounts, and your island lives on your phone. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to join the leaderboard, which publishes only the nickname and avatar you pick plus your Island XP, islands reached, gold and orders completed. The early-access build shows no third-party ads.
1. Information kept on your device
Your progress — the board, your islands, coins, gems, energy, discoveries, goals, achievements, settings and your language choice — is stored on your device only. Unless you join the leaderboard (section 2), we never receive any of it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
2. The leaderboard (optional)
Leaderboards are off until you tap Join under Ranks, and you can leave at any time. If you join, your device is given a random identifier — not linked to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID — and sends, every few hours while you play:
- the display name and avatar you chose (please don't use your real name if you'd rather not be identified — names are shown publicly);
- your Island XP, the island you have reached, the gold in your treasury and the number of orders you have completed;
- a two-letter country code worked out from your IP address so boards can show a flag — we do not store your IP address;
- the city you type on your profile, if you set one, so you can see your city's board. Leave it empty and no local board is shown.
This information is shown publicly on the leaderboard inside the app and on this website. It is stored on Cloudflare Workers and D1, which host the service on our behalf; it is not sold and not shared with anyone else.
Leaving. Ranks → Edit → Leave deletes your record — your profile row and every score — from our server and removes the identifier from your device. You can also email us and we'll delete it for you.
3. Sharing
The Share button on the leaderboard opens your phone's own share sheet with a line of text about your rank. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose an app to share it with.
4. Advertising and analytics
The current early-access build shows only simulated in-game "ads" that are part of the game and send nothing. The app bundles the Meta (Facebook) SDK for measuring app installs from future advertising campaigns; it is switched off in this build and collects nothing. If we turn on advertising or install measurement in a later version, we will update this policy, ask for consent where the law requires it, and the controls will be in Settings.
5. What we don't do
- We don't create accounts or ask for your email, phone number or contacts.
- We don't use your camera, microphone, photos or precise location.
- We don't sell your personal information.
6. Children
MergeVille is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Keeping and deleting data
Progress stays on your device until you uninstall the app. If you joined the leaderboard, your record is kept until you leave — which deletes it from our server straight away — or until you ask us to delete it.
8. Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
